Bassic Instinct
III
Compiled by Oli Roesch (aka Deluca)
CD SD 062
Release Date: 19.03.01
Mother pearl? Gold edition?
Grand Class? Sometimes it can be tricky to call
your label "deluxe", cause at a certain
point you might be desperatley in need of a
heavier superlative, i.e. one that could describe
the quantum leap that this compilation "Bassic
Instinct 03" is. For years now Stereo Deluxe
have played a significant rol in the distribution
of cool, warming up modern homes with delicate
grooves. Less romantic minds would blatantly
call their raison ´d etre "Trip Hop",
in fact Stereo de Luxe always dealed with "real"
music. What we are encountering here is nothing
but the slimmed down, deep state of Disco, Reggae
and Funk (call it nufunk nueva brazil, house,
lounge groove if you cant live without neologisms).
Until now Stereo Deluxe was known primarily
for their outstanding compilation work. They
located and collected the most delicious sounds
worldwide, canned it with ease and unrivaled
style to cater the needs of a highly sophisticated
leisure society. Not stopping at this level,
the Stereo Deluxe labs filtered, assimilated
and most important, carefully nurtured own talend.
Boozoo Bajou and Mo´Horizons are well
known examples! Along comes "Bassic Instinct
No.3", no doubt the best Stereo Deluxe
compilation ever. It sounds as the Stereo Deluxe
supremo Deluca had just returned from a global
shopping tour, bringing in a bag full of sun.
"Bassic Instinct No.3" has all the
finest ingredients of a mellowed-out state of
musical being right in the mix, but : everthing
here is homemade! From the latin pressure of
Stereo Dekuxe´s recent signing The Strike
Boys, the delicate funk of the label´s
new wunderkind Jaffa, fine young talent such
as Soul'n'Soda or Athome Project, exquisite
remixes by affiliates like The Funky Lowlives
and sizzling, unreleased material by the labels
workhorses Boozoo Bajou, Moodorama and Mo´Horizons. This
is an amazing achievement. To put it modestly:
a stereo deluxe star is born. And when the last
track of this compilation, a bluesy swamp and
reggae by Boozoo Bajou fades, you are already
hooked for good. This not only will paint a
big smile on your face but defines and strengthens
a distinct new trademark sound,a future regular
on many stereos worldwide, the coming of a Stereo
Deluxe movement. Bassic Instinct indeed.

Bassic Instinct
II
Compiled by Oli Roesch (aka Deluca)
CD SD042
‘Modern urban sound’
is not only the trademark but also the attitude
that Stereo Deluxe transports. The task is to
bring you relaxed, intelligent and of course
up-to-date club- and lounge-music and to create
a musical vision of variety and elegance.
Stereo Deluxe presents you fine acts like BOOZOO
BAJOU, TRIO ELÉTRICO, MOODORAMA and MO’
HORIZONS. All these and more are featured with
their best tracks and unreleased versions and
mixes on our second label-compilation BASSIC
INSTINCT II.
'A stack of goodies from THE label to watch
out for next year. Stereo Deluxe take all the
best elements of svengalis of suave like Kruder
& Dorfmeister and Jazzanova, pitch them
across everything from swinging Latin to blistering
funk and, in Mo' Horizons, Boozoo Bajou and
Trio Elétrico for three, have found a
roster of artists whose time is surely coming.'
